Stunner Baby Magazine Current Affairs dives into the acclaimed new singing show ‘The Voice”. “The Voice” is an American reality talent show that premiered on April 26, 2011 on the NBC television network. Based on the reality singing competition “The Voice of Holland”, the series was created by Dutch television producer John de Mol. “The Voice of Holland” was won by Ben Saunders and is a part of the international “The Voice” series.

The first American series was hosted by Carson Daly, with Alison Haislip serving as the backstage and social networking correspondent. The winner received $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Republic.  “The Voice” immediately proved to be a hit for NBC and in mid-May 2011, it was confirmed that the network had renewed the show for a second season.

The series consists of three phases: a blind audition, a battle phase, and live performance shows. Four judges/coaches, all noteworthy recording artists, choose teams of contestants through a blind audition process. Each judge has the length of the auditioned performance (about one minute) to decide if he or she wants that singer on his or her team; if two or more judges want the same singer (as happens frequently), the singer has the final choice of coach.

Each team of singers is mentored and developed by its respective coach. In the second stage, called the battle phase, coaches have two of their team members’ battle against each other directly by singing the same song together, with the coach choosing which team member to advance from each of four individual “battles” into the first live round. Within that first live round, the surviving four acts from each team again compete head-to-head, with public votes determining one of two acts from each team that will advance to the final eight, while the coach chooses which of the remaining three acts comprises the other performer remaining on the team.

In the final phase, the remaining contestants (Final Eight) compete against each other in live broadcasts. The television audience and the coaches have equal say 50/50 in deciding who moves on to the final 4 phase. With one team member remaining for each coach, the (Final Four) contestants compete against each other in the finale with the outcome decided solely by public vote.  “The Voice” featured pop stars Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as “coaches” for the contestants. In a twist on the talent show format, the contestants initially were picked sight unseen and on the basis of their voice.

“The Voice” crowned the soulful crooner Javier Colon as its inaugural winner in the new singing contest. Colon won over three other finalists when the audience vote was announced on Wednesday’s live season finale. He will receive a $100,000 prize and a recording contract.

A slim, 2 percent margin separated Colon from second-place Dia Frampton, 23, of St. George, Utah, host Carson Daly reported. The other finalists were Vicci Martinez, 26, of Tacoma, Wash., and Beverly McClellan, 41, of Virginia and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“Wow, thank you,” a stunned-looking Colon said as confetti rained down on him. “The three women behind me are absolutely awesome and it was a pleasure to be here with them.”

Colon was coached by Maroon 5 front man Levine, who lifted his arms in victory when Colon’s name was announced and then rushed on stage to hug him. Shelton, who coached Frampton, smiled and applauded.

There are tons of good tv shows to choose from to say it’s the best. No matter what is said though, there is no doubt that this show ranks in the top five of all of them. Yes, there are shows that are a bit older but this one still has charm. There is comedy, humor, and a little politics, easily moving it up to the top. They just don’t make them like this anymore.
