Stunner Baby Magazine shines the spirit spotlight on Bacardi’s Oakheart Spiced Rum exciting introduction into the competitive rum industry. The introduction of Oakheart to the extensive Bacardi flavored rum family marks the company’s entry into the popular spiced rum market segment of demographic drinkers.  Bacardi Oakheart is created with a blend of rums mellowed in charred American white oak barrels. From there, spices including maple, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and vanilla are added.

The result is what the company calls…

…a bold, spiced rum straight from the heart of charred oak barrels with an amber hue, a hint of smokiness and unique velvet-like smoothness.  Rich and oaky on the nose, with hints of smoke and dried fruit, this exceptional spiced rum has a robust flavor that stands up to any challenge. Slightly sweet and peppery with a noticeable rum-kick, Bacardi Oakheart tastes great straight or combined with cola and served over ice in a chilled stein glass.

Bacardi described as “a tribute to modern day adventurers”, Oakheart blends the original Bacardi Superior with the distinctively smooth finish of Bacardi Gold. Choice spices like cinnamon, maple, nutmeg, and vanilla are infused into the “heart” of charred oak cask barrels to create the perfect marriage of robust flavor and smokiness. The rum is uniquely sweet and peppery in taste with a noticeable rum intensity at the finish. Remarkably smooth, Oakheart tastes great chilled straight or combined with cola and a twist of lime or lemon.

The Oakheart name was developed in collaboration with thousands of consumers and hundreds of bartenders. More than 2,700 names were considered before Oakheart was selected, a process that took more than two years.

In our research findings, Bacardi plans to introduce branded tankard style glasses for pubs and bars to create interest around the brand and differentiate it from rivals such as Captain Morgan’s and Sailor Jerry’s spiced rums. These will later feature in Bacardi’s Oakheart gift products.

Bacardi also plans to create a raft of digital and viral video content based on the “adventures” of five groups of brand ambassador’s travelling to events around the world such as the Kentucky Derby. The brand is also in talks with Coca Cola to launch a co-branded promotion for the pub trade to support and encourage drinkers to try “Oak and Coke”.

The spiced rum is currently growing at 24% year on year, outperforming the more established white spirits and gold rum markets currently reporting 0.7% and 8.9% growth respectively. Oakheart will be available in the on and off trade from September. Bacardi Oakheart will be available nationwide this September at a suggested retail price of $12.99 for a 750-ml bottle.
