Stunner Baby Magazine shines the celebrity spotlight on the new reality show “Chicagolicious” setting up drama shop in Chicago. AJ Johnson owner of AJ’s of Chicago is no stranger to the glaring lights of fame, popularity and visionary spirit. I have had the pleasure of working with AJ’s of Chicago on a few special promotions throughout their climb to stardom.

Chicagolicious is a docu-soap spin off of the hit series Jerseylicious which aired on Style Network on June 11, 2012. The premiere of Chicagolicious captured over 250,000 viewers to brand AJ. I was taken aback by the style, freshness, honesty, and drama in the premiere show that proves that dreams can come true.

AJ stated…

“A female fan was like ‘that’s AJ, AJ I love your show, I watch your show’ and once she said it in the Walgreens, everybody in Walgreens came over to me. But I liked it, it was fun,” Johnson said. The show follows Johnson’s quest to take his brand national, and in true reality show fashion, also features plenty of drama between the characters.

This series takes viewers to the Windy City to follow AJ Johnson owner of AJ’s of Chicago, and whose clientele includes a who’s who of actors and models, including Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman. With his staff of hair stylists and makeup artists, AJ looks to expand his business nationally by servicing more elite clientele and solidifying his place in Chicago society.

AJ says he’s hand-picked everyone in the salon.

“I have an amazing, big personality and very talented stylists.” he says about the group. Joining him yesterday were Austin Maxfield (AJ’s “Diamond in the Rough”), Virginia native MaCray (a self-taught stylist) and Valincia, who has an outgoing personality and admits cast mate Katrell Mendenhall is her “menace”. It’s a spinoff of “Jerseylicious,” which features life inside New Jersey salon, but much of the action in the Chicago version occurs in the social scene around the city.  Each week AJ and his crew will go for their dreams on camera with AJ as the style-in-chief in a combustible mix of personalities. Even though conflict and drama make for the reality in a reality series, AJ indicates that his staff is like family to him and their dreams matter, too.
